This 3” wide by 180’ long tape is routinely used for collection of trace evidence such as hair, fiber, glass shards, etc. The collection procedure is similar to that of lifting a dusted latent print, however the adhesive is soluble in water. To remove the trace evidence from the tape, simply soak the tape in water, then run the solution through a filter to collect the evidence for microscopic analysis.

These 6” wide by 15” long vinyl backing cards are designed to be used with the Trace Evidence Collection Tape described above. The use of these backing cards will protect the collected evidence from contamination and/or loss. Simply cut a piece of the backing card slightly larger than the tape used for collection, then affix the tape to the card. Using a ballpoint pen or a permanent marker, write pertinent information concerning the evidence on the back of the card and submit it to your crime lab for analysis.
