Whenever
photographs are taken of evidence, it is of paramount
importance to have a scale included in the photo to be used
as a reference to show the actual size of the item being
photographed. Our series of photographic scales provides you
with a wide selection for properly photographing any type of
evidence. |

Vinyl Photo
Scales |
|
|
 |
These flexible,
nonglare vinyl scales are available in six different colors
to guarantee contrast against any type or color background.
Each scale is marked in both inches and millimeters and has
crosshair circles at each end to assist in photogrammetry. |

Authorized ABFO
No.2©
Photomacrographic Scale |
|
|
 |
The ABFO No. 2©
Scale was designed by the American Board of Forensic
Odontology and is used through the country when
photographing bite marks on a victim’s body. The three
crosshair circles are useful in helping to compensate for
distortion resulting from oblique camera angles. The
graduations are all metric, except for the width of the
legs, which are 1” wide. The 1 cm division lines are traced
and extended across the photographic print to grid an image.
Measurements within the image are then made relative to
these inscribed 1 cm grid lines to compensate for any
distortion resulting from non-parallelism between the film
and the object planes. |

markings accurate to 0.1 mm or better |
|
• |
Overall size is
105 mm x 105 mm (about 4" x 4") |
|
• |
Gray areas have
a reflectance value of approximately 18% |
|
• |
Alternating
black and white bars (1 cm) to permit measurements from
grossly over- and underexposed photographs. |
|
L-Shaped
Photomacrographic Scale |
|
|
 |
This L-shaped
scale is similar to the ABFO No. 2© Scale,
however, it is printed in inches rather than the metric
system. It is made of the same heavy, laminated plastic with
a nonglare finish and has 3 crosshair circles to assist in
correcting parallax. There are alternating black and white
bars to allow for measurements of grossly over or
underexposed photographs and bars of approximate 18% gray
scale for color corrections. |
|
Fluorescent
L-Shaped Photomacrographic Scale |
|
|
 |
Identical to the
L-shaped scale shown above, but constructed of heavy
cardstock. These Fluorescent Photomacrographic Scales are
printed in a bright orange which fluoresces under a UV light
source. This scale is used when photographing evidence such
as latent prints that have been dusted with fluorescent
powders. |
|
"Bureau"
Reference Scale |
|
|
 |
The “Bureau”
Reference Scale set contains an L-shaped scale which is 30
cm long on the long arm and 15 cm on the short arm, and a
second straight scale which is 15 cm long.
One side of each scale is white with black print and the
other side is black with white print. These scales are made
to official FBI specifications and photograph well under a
variety of lighting conditions. These scales have crosshair
circles which provides a means of checking and correcting
perspective distortion. |
